Climate change is the most important topic to be focused on. The wildfires, rising temperatures, rising sea levels are the result of it. And this year 2020 we are experiencing it, we have experienced every bit of it in previous years too. Due to the excessive emission of greenhouse gases, there is a rise in the earth’s temperature. Our earth is already 1.1o C warmer than it was before the industrial revolution. And we are witnessing the results of Climate change.

As Earth is getting warmer the glaciers are melting and hence the oceans are expanding. If this keeps on going the coastal areas and the islands will be soon underwater. We emit tons and tons of CO2 every year irrespective of the consequences that we may face in the future. The worst thing about it is that we know climate change is happening but no one is ready to take responsibility for it.

The developed countries are the ones that are emitting the most. The developed countries like the USA and China are at top of the chart. On 12th December 2015, The Paris agreement was nearly accepted by every nation to tackle climate change and its ill effects. In this agreement, the deal was to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and to limit the rise of global temperature to 1.5oC as compared to the temperature before the industrial revolution. On June 1, 2017, President Trump made the decision to withdraw the name from this agreement.

The UN said that if the global temperature rises by 1.5oC by the year 2100 then it is okay and even if it rises by 2oC then it is fine. But the most concerning thing is that the temperature is rising so fast that we may hit 1.5oC by 2030.

At least there is awareness regarding Climate Change and some countries are trying to use maximum renewable sources of energy. If more countries adopt this method for the generation of energy then we may tackle this situation. Even if all the nations decide to reduce the carbon emission then too at some point politics comes in between and then, we’re back where we started.

The factor which also plays a vital role in climate change is a lifestyle. If we are rich then we tend to use more private vehicles. At this point, we should more often use public transport, e-bikes, and e-cars. We should maximize the use of bicycles. This will help to reduce carbon emissions and will help to lower the overall temperature of the Earth.
